Pocahontas State Park is accepting applications for the Office Assistant position.
Job Summary:
Primary duties include but are not limited to: responding to customer requests in-person, by phone, and email; reconciling revenue for cash registers; preparing cash and credit revenue deposits; entering revenue data into respective software; maintaining accurate and neat filing and storage; reconciling financial data; procuring goods and services; managing park records; processing timesheets, payroll; and invoices for payment. Candidate may act as working supervisor at the park office/gift shop and contact locations. Ideal candidate must be able to apply knowledge of supervisory practices and principles and can interpret and follow direction, as well as provide direction. The successful candidate will ensure operational, and safety procedures are followed and provide daily work direction. While functioning in a supervisory capacity, responsible for exercising some independent judgment in problem solving. Other duties may include special events and other duties as assigned.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The Office Assistant will also be responsible for duties such as calculating and entering attendance in a database; returning correspondence by phone and email regarding park information, processing and handling purchases, revenue and expenditure reporting, banquet hall rental agreements; conducting inventory counts; performing general office administration duties as assigned; ensuring workspace, front desk and other customer contact areas are neat and clean; and serving as support staff for park leadership.
This position requires working various work shifts, weekends, and holidays.

Background Check: Employment in all Virginia State Parks positions is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check.

Driver’s License Requirement: A valid State Driver's License is required if operating a state or personal vehicle for agency business.
Work Requirements: Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefits and are limited to 1,500 hours from May 1 to April 30.
