Seven Bends State Park is accepting applications for an Office Assistant position.
Job Summary:
Self-motivated and outgoing individual needed to assist management with park administrative functions. This position serves as the first point of contact for in-person and over-the-phone inquiries, provides office support services and coverage at the park office and gift shop.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Primary duties include, but are not limited to, responding to customer requests in-person, by phone and email; reconciling revenue for cash registers; preparing cash and credit revenue deposits; entering revenue data into respective software;
- Maintaining accurate and neat filing and storage, managing park records; Conducting inventory counts;
- Procuring goods and services, processing invoices for payment, tracking budgets in assigned areas, revenue and expenditure reporting, reconciling financial data;
- Processing and handling customer purchases through the park’s mobile gift shop and phone sales;
- Perform general office administration duties as assigned; ensure workspace, front desk, and other customer contact areas are neat and clean; serve as support staff for park leadership;
- Required to work weekends and holidays
Minimum Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office or similar office applications.
- Proficient in operating point of sale systems and cash management
- Ability to work well with other staff, volunteers, and park guests both independently and as a team member
Additional Considerations:
- Prior experience in customer service, park setting, or related field is preferred, but not required.
Special Instructions:
- Background Check: Employment in all Virginia State Parks positions is contingent upon satisfactory completion of a criminal history background check.
- Employment Eligibility: Selected candidates must complete the I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification Form. DCR participates in E-Verify.
- Driver’s License Requirement: A valid State Driver's License is required if operating a state or personal vehicle for agency business.
- Work Requirements: Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for benefits and are limited to 1,500 hours from May 1 to April 30.

- Free camping outside of the Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day period in sites designed for up to six people.
- Free camping Sunday night through Thursday night (excluding the night before a holiday) from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.
- Fifty percent discount on cabins (up to 3 bedrooms) outside of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, for a maximum of 14 nights. All reservations require a two-night minimum. Bunkhouses, camping cabins, and yurts are included; one-night yurt stays only receive a 25% discount.
