Get ready for adventure! The Southwest Virginia Museum Historical State Park is hosting its fifth annual Junior Ranger Program from Monday, June 22, through Friday, June 26, from 9 a.m. to noon. Open to children ages 6–12, the camp offers a fun week of hands‑on learning and exploration.

Rangers in training will step back into the 18th‑century frontier, try traditional skills, make period crafts, play colonial games, and enjoy interactive activities. Highlights include a snake education program with Popcorn the snake, a pollinator program with a make‑and‑take watering station, and activities exploring local wildlife, geology, and the Powell River. The week will finish with a scavenger hunt, games, and trivia.

For outdoor safety, children are encouraged to wear hats and use sunblock and bug spray.

The $35 fee includes a junior ranger hat, badge, nature journal, and daily snacks. Space is limited; please register by Friday, June 19.

A graduation and awards ceremony will be held at noon on the final day, with family and friends invited to attend. Light refreshments will be provided.
