Location of Fairy Stone State Park in Virginia

Where

Program Location: Shelter #4
Main Park Address: Fairy Stone State Park, 967 Fairystone Lake Dr., Stuart, VA 24171.

When

June 21, 2026. 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Hop on over for a hands-on adventure into the world of frogs and toads. Join park staff as we search for some of Virginia’s native frog and toad species and their tadpoles. We'll explore their watery habitats, listen closely for their unique calls, and try our hand at identifying these amazing amphibians. Along the way, you'll learn about their behaviors, life cycle, and the important roles they play in our ecosystem. Be sure to wear waterproof shoes; you’ll be wading into toad territory!

We will be collecting data as part of the FrogWatch USA program. This is a frog monitoring program that has collected data for the past 26 years. This data assists scientists to understand the causes of frog and toad population changes over a period of time and place.
