Where

Program Location: Park Office
Main Park Address: Hayfields State Park, 524 Hayfields Lane, McDowell, VA 24458.

Sept. 12, 2026. 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

In honor of National Girl Scouts Love State Parks Weekend, join us for a tree trek along Laurel Loop.

Do you know how to identify different trees? Would you like to know how certain tree species have been utilized throughout history? With a ranger, hike along Laurel Loop and learn about some of the trees that call the park and region home. This program is open to everyone, not just Girl Scouts. If you are a Girl Scout this hike can help you complete your Girl Scout Tree Promise.

Laurel Loop is a 1 mile, moderate trail with some uneven terrain. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, dress for the weather, and bring water to drink.

Meet at the Park Office.

Contact the park office (540-396-4489) for more details.
