Movie Night: The Extraordinary Caterpillar

Enjoy a summer movie night featuring the small yet marvelous creatures seen in abundance throughout the summer: caterpillars!  "The Extraordinary Caterpillar", a beautifully shot 60-minute documentary reveals the vital, and often overlooked, role caterpillars play in our ecosystems. Before the movie begins, a park ranger will introduce the audience to a few live caterpillar species and discuss their important role in our world. 

From blooming meadows to city parks and backyard gardens, this inspiring film celebrates the magic of nature while showing families practical ways to make a difference. Along the way, you’ll see the groundbreaking work of The Caterpillar Lab, entomologist David Wagner, and Doug Tallamy, co-founder of Homegrown National Park. You'll hear inspiring stories and go home with simple steps you can take to create habitat in your own yard or community.

This is a chance to see nature in a whole new light and to be part of the movement to bring it home. We hope you’ll join us.

What to Expect: 
This program will take place under the covered picnic shelter with seating at picnic tables and a paved floor. You are also welcome to bring your own camp chairs, pads/blankets, and snacks. The area is accessible for wheelchairs and strollers. There is a bathroom located nearby.

Registration:
Registration is required and space is limited, so reserve your spot soon. This event is free with a $5 parking pass. If you find that you aren't able to attend, please make sure to cancel your ticket to free up your spot. We will contact you if the program is cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
