Slither and splash into the world of reptiles while taking steps toward earning your Girl Scouts Voice for Animals badge. Feeding Time at the Park Office gives you a close-up look at responsible animal care and the challenges reptiles face in the wild. Watch “Ranger Shelly,” our resident turtle, enjoy her meal and learn how proper feeding and husbandry keep animals healthy. You’ll also meet our newest park family member, an Eastern Ratsnake named Ranger Ziggy, and discover the important role snakes play in their ecosystems. From understanding what reptiles need to thrive to exploring the issues they encounter in nature, this program helps you build the knowledge and compassion at the heart of the Voice for Animals badge.

About Girl Scouts Love State Parks

Every September, during Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend, Virginia State Parks offers a variety of programs to connect Girl Scouts with nature while earning badges. From guided hikes and plant identification to campfire building and backpacking basics, this special weekend helps Girl Scouts learn outdoor skills, build confidence and become advocates for the environment.
