Who loves State Parks? Girl Scouts. Spend the weekend exploring the park and learning more about the natural world.

Friday, September 11:

Night Owl 7-9 pm: Join a ranger to explore the night and learn more about nocturnal nightlight. This will complete Step 1, 2, and 4 of the Night Owl Badge. Meets at Visitor Center. Registration is limited to 50 participants.

Saturday, September 12:

Cadette Eco Trekker (9 a.m.- 12 p.m.): Complete all five steps for this badge while journeying five miles (round trip) to Group Camp 7, a historically segregated camping area used by Girl Scouts in the 1940s. Meets at Bright Hope Horse Complex. Registration is limited to 20 participants.

Daisy Trail Adventures (2-4 p.m.): Join us to choose, prepare, and go on an outdoor adventure. Meets at Visitor Center. Registration is limited to 30 participants.

Brownie Shapes in Nature (2-4 p.m.): Look carefully at nature and discover patterns, shapes, and textures-both hidden and in plain sight. Participants will complete Step 1: Track Natural Objects, Step 2: Graph Natural Objects, and Step 5: Collect Data about Birds. Meets at Visitor Center. Registration is limited to 30 participants.

Junior-Outdoor Art Explorer ( 2-4 p.m.): Nature and art go hand in hand. Let nature inspire you as you create and explore the park. Participants will complete Step 1:Explore Outdoor Art, Step 2: Make Something, and Step 3: Find Music in Nature. Meets at Visitor Center. Registration is limited to 30 participants.

Friday, September 11-Sunday, September 13 (10 a.m.-4 p.m.)

Stop by the Visitor Center and Civilian Conservation Corps Museum to talk with helpful Rangers while you complete the Virginia State Park-Girl Scouts Loves State Parks self-guided activity booklet. Every September, during Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend, Virginia State Parks offers a variety of programs to connect Girl Scouts with nature while earning badges. From guided hikes and plant identification to campfire building and backpacking basics, this special weekend helps Girl Scouts learn outdoor skills, build confidence and become advocates for the environment.
