Girl Scouts Love State Parks

Join us a for a day of adventure and fun during Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend!

12:00 p.m. - Pack your lunch and enjoy the shade under Shelter #2. Rangers will bring along s'mores supplies for a sweet treat after.

1:00 p.m. - We'll supply the string, beads, and charms if you supply the creativity. Make a nature themed friendship bracelet to trade or keep for yourself. 

2:00 p.m. - Hit the trails with a geocache adventure. We've got a variety of geocaches around the park, and Rangers with the know-how on how to find them. Since cell phone service doesn't always work in the park, we'll rely on old-school handheld GPS units to guide us in the right direction; don't worry we'll show you how to navigate. 

5:00 p.m. - We'll end the day with a guided paddle, open to all skill levels. Rangers will go over the basics of paddling, water safety, and proper use of a PFD (personal flotation device) at the Boathouse. This paddle may last approximately two hours, including set up, launching, paddling, and docking. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting wet and closed-toe shoes. 

We suggest bringing plenty of water, snacks, and a change of clothes for after the paddle. You can join us for the entire day, or stop in for an activity or two. Registration is recommended, so please call the Park Office at (434) 248-6308 to sign up or for any questions.

Every September, during Girl Scouts Love State Parks weekend, Virginia State Parks offers a variety of programs to connect Girl Scouts with nature while earning badges. From guided hikes and plant identification to campfire building and backpacking basics, this special weekend helps Girl Scouts learn outdoor skills, build confidence and become advocates for the environment.
