From the revolutions of Europe to the battlefields and cities of Civil War America, German immigrants found themselves caught between two worlds. This lecture explores why thousands left their homeland, how they built new lives in the United States, and the choices they faced as the nation descended into civil war. Through stories of soldiers and civilians alike, discover how German immigrants helped shape a divided America while forging new identities of their own.
