Step into the hidden world of fungi on this guided hike with a park ranger. As we explore the land near the creek and lake, we’ll uncover the incredible role mushrooms and other fungi play in keeping our forest healthy—from recycling nutrients to supporting plants and wildlife. Along the way, you’ll discover how to spot different types of fungi, hear surprising facts about their survival strategies, and learn why these often-overlooked organisms are essential to the ecosystem. The hike covers about 0.5 miles on uneven terrain. Please wear sturdy shoes and meet at the Discovery Center parking lot.
