Ready to experience the forest in all its autumn color? Join us for a short, guided hike focused on identifying trees as they transition into their fall display. With changing leaves, emerging seasonal textures, and distinctive bark and branching patterns easier to spot as the canopy thins, it’s an ideal time to sharpen your tree-ID skills and deepen your connection to the forest.

We’ll share expert tips and helpful tricks to confidently identify Virginia’s trees using fall leaf colors, shapes, bark characteristics, and overall growth habits. The walk takes place on Buck Lick Trail, an easy, family-friendly route covering less than half a mile on gentle terrain—perfect for all experience levels. Be sure to wear closed-toed shoes and dress for the weather.

Meet at the Camp Store Parking Lot.
