Join a ranger on a dynamic hike to learn about the lifecycle of forests. As we wonder from grassy fields at the forest’s edge to trees standing tall, we’ll learn how the forest recycles nutrients and space through the natural process of succession. We will also talk a little about fire ecology—how periodic, low-intensity fires help maintain healthy habitats, encourage new growth, and shape the long-term structure of the forest. Close-toed, sturdy shoes are recommended from the 0.5 mile moderate hike.
