Guided Walk & Acorn Collection for DOF

Oct. 3, 2026. 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m.

During this special volunteering opportunity, you can join a park ranger on a walk through the beautiful forest to learn about our native trees and contribute to Virginia's future forests! As we walk, we will collect acorns and sort them before they are sent to the Virginia Department of Forestry. These seeds will be planted and sold as saplings at an affordable cost to Virginia landowners who are reforesting their land. Learn more about this annual initiative on the DOF website.

The guided walk will be about 1 mile long on a mostly flat forested trail. Those who chose to may cover a shorter distance on their own. Please bring water and wear sturdy comfortable shoes.

While registration is not required for this program, it is recommended! If you register, we will be able to contact you if the program is cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
