EWING, Va. – Wilderness Road State Park invites the public to join in a special event celebrating 250 years of American history with Virginia for Liberty: 1776, a multi-day commemorative experience honoring the heritage of the Appalachian frontier and the legendary Wilderness Road.

May 8-10, Virginia for Liberty pays tribute to the pioneering spirit that carved a path through the untamed wilderness and laid the foundation for westward expansion.

Located along the historic route once traveled by Daniel Boone and thousands of settlers, Wilderness Road State Park offers the perfect backdrop for this immersive journey into our nation’s early frontier story.

Highlights of the celebration include:

  • Costumed interpreters bringing the 18th century to life
  • Exploring the reconstructed frontier fort and learning about daily life on the edge of the American wilderness in the 1770s
  • Interactive exhibits and workshops, including blacksmithing, traditional crafts and period music

Dates and admission:

  • Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., $10 per vehicle
  • Sunday, May 10: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., $5 per vehicle
