Celebrate the Fourth of July at Natural Bridge State Park with a special reading of the Declaration of Independence

NATURAL BRIDGE, Va. – Natural Bridge State Park invites visitors to celebrate Independence Day with two special events honoring the nation’s founding and showcasing one of Virginia’s most iconic landmarks.

From 1 to 2 p.m. on July 4, visitors can gather beneath the awe-inspiring Natural Bridge for a live reading of the Declaration of Independence. Historical interpreters in period dress will bring the famous document to life, offering an immersive and educational experience that reflects the spirit of 1776. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to attend and enjoy this powerful tribute to America’s origins in a setting steeped in natural and cultural history.

The celebration continues after sunset with the Illumination of the Bridge, held from 8 to 10 p.m. The towering limestone arch will be lit by dozens of colorful lights, providing a breathtaking evening display and a memorable way to cap off the holiday.

Visitors are welcome to enjoy the park’s trails, scenery and amenities throughout the day before settling in for the nighttime spectacle.

These family-friendly events are included with standard park admission.
