To celebrate the incredible impact of geospatial technology and the teams behind it, join the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation for a GIS Day event to explore and discover how we leverage geography and geospatial technologies to explore, understand and conserve Virginia’s natural and recreational resources.
Opening remarks begin at 10:15 with the "open house" portion of the event beginning at 10:45.
GIS Day, started in 1999, is an international event celebrated annually on the third Wednesday in November during Geography Awareness Week. It's a day to celebrate the innovators, problem-solvers, and storytellers who use GIS technology to make a difference - proving that when purpose meets technology, the possibilities are limitless. This year's theme is GIS: Powering Purpose and Innovation — a celebration of every innovator, problem-solver, and storyteller using geospatial technology to drive real-world change.
