Getting to Know Grafton
Experience a guided tour led by Heritage expert and Regional Supervisor Zach Bradford to view Grafton Ponds Natural Area Preserve, with an emphasis on one of the rarest species present. Along the way, you’ll learn about the formation history and biology of Virginia's best remaining coastal plain pond complex. The hike will cover approximately 2.5 miles.

Location: Grafton Ponds Natural Area Preserve, North of intersection of Fort Eustis Blvd and Richneck Rd. (37.1790565, -76.5179288), York County, VA
Maximum capacity: 15
Age: Any ages welcome with adult supervision and ability to complete the hike
Pets: Must be on leash
Clothing: Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear sturdy and comfortable shoes.
Supplies: Bring water, snacks, sunscreen, and bug spray.
Amenities: None
Participants should be able to:
- Understand and follow directions to avoid/manage risks.
- Tolerate the elements including temperature for the duration.
- Traverse unpaved and uneven trails.
