Ever wanted to learn how to fish, but never knew where to start? A park ranger will guide you on selecting the right equipment, different fishing techniques, casting techniques, fishing safety, and identifying common fish species.
June 5-7, 2026 is designated as Free Fishing Day in Virginia. On this day, no fishing license of any kind will be required for rod and reel fishing in freshwater or saltwater, except in designated stocked trout waters.
Parks are for everyone. To ensure an enjoyable time, please alert park staff to any necessary special accommodations you or your group may need.
