This three-hour class will cover the basics of paddling skills including how to select and fit a personal flotation device (PFD), different types of kayaks, planning and safety, reading the river, identifying river hazards, and proper paddling strokes.

Come out to Chestnut Creek along the Cliffview Campground, get your feet wet, and explore life underwater!

Drop by the campfire to relax, meet your camping neighbors, enjoy time sharing stories, and learn about critters that call New River Trail home.

Join us on a ranger led paddle from Ivanhoe to Foster Falls (7 miles) following the New River Trail to learn more about the history of the area and about kayaking the river.
