The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is set to review the DSS-WISE™ Lite system in an upcoming webinar. The DSS-WISETM is a web-based, automated two-dimensional dam- and levee-break flood modeling and mapping capability developed by the National Center for Computational Hydroscience and Engineering (NCCHE) at the University of Mississippi, with funding from FEMA. The system is accessible via the DSS-WISE™ Web platform (https://dsswiseweb.ncche.olemiss.edu/) providing access to a secure, web-based environment consisting of a graphical user interface and a map server. The system is available 24/7 and free of charge to registered users.

This webinar will cover:

  • Overviews the system components for DSS-WISE™ Web and GUI;
  • Demonstrates how to set up and run “reservoir-type” and “hydrograph-type” simulations;
  • Demonstrated how to view and use the results files provided;
  • Explains behind the scenes of automated input data preparation and its limitations;
  • Discusses typical user mistakes and how to avoid them; and
  • Presents tips and techniques for dealing with challenging cases.

A recording of this webinar will be available at: https://dsswiseweb.ncche.olemiss.edu/documentation/
