Description:

FEMA has recently developed guidelines regarding the use of LIDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) derived topographic data for Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) applications. This webinar will provide information on the Minnesota pilot project where this concept was tested, a Montana project that compared Lowest Adjacent Grades (LAGs) derived from LIDAR with field surveys and FEMA’s new guidelines.

Continuing Education Credits:

Certified Floodplain Managers are eligible for one continuing education credit for attending this webinar. You must register individually and indicate you are a CFM when you register. Eligibility for CECs is dependent on your participation in poll questions and time spent viewing the webinar, as determined by the webinar software. Attending this training in a group setting or only viewing the recording is not eligible for CECs.

This webinar is being offered through the Cooperating Technical Partners Information Exchange. The Cooperating Technical Partners program is an innovative approach to creating partnerships between FEMA and participating NFIP communities, regional agencies, state agencies, tribes and universities that have the interest and capability to become active participants in the FEMA flood hazard mapping program. ASFPM established a subcommittee of its Mapping and Engineering Standards Committee to support the CTP program. This subcommittee is co-chaired by Thuy Patton with the Colorado Water Conservation Board and Carey Johnson with the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection. The goals are to help identify mechanisms to measure successes and share best practices among mapping partners. This webinar is intended to help meet these goals.
